My husband was transferred to CAMC from a different hospital because he developed a pulmonary embolism and after one week in the hospital, he kept getting worse and worse. Once at CAMC we were immediately blown away by the attentiveness, responsiveness, and knowledge of everyone we encountered. One nurse, in particular, stood out; Elisabeth noticed a large bruise on my husband's side and immediately contacted a hospitalist who ordered a CT scan that revealed a large rectus sheath hematoma. He was transferred to the ICU immediately. Without this nurse's attentiveness and dedication to her patients, I shudder to imagine what may have happened if this had not been detected. His vital signs had been steadily changing for the worse: B/P as well as his RBCs and HGB and Hct dropping. Aside from Elisabeth's attentiveness and knowledge that quite possibly saved my husband's life, she was very kind and always seemed to go above and beyond on even the simplest tasks.
