Elisabeth is a caregiver through and through, with a whole lot of heart.
Elisabeth Veits, a passionate nursing specialist, was honored for her exceptional care on the pediatric oncology ward, where she provides her young patients with immense compassion, extensive expertise, and unwavering dedication every day.
For the past four years, the 25-year-old has been working in the Department of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation at UKR. She devotes tireless energy and meticulous care, especially to children and adolescents with cancer. Her unparalleled commitment goes far beyond routine care, as she not only performs all necessary nursing interventions but also offers emotional support to the children and their families. Her loving and considerate manner makes the hospital stay more bearable for the young patients and their families.
Touched parents wrote: "Elisabeth is a caregiver through and through, with a whole lot of heart. From the very first moment, parents, as well as the children/patients themselves, feel well cared for, thoroughly looked after, and taken seriously with all their questions and concerns. During night shifts, for example, she sets an alarm to be in the room in time to change the infusion before the device starts beeping and wakes the entire room. She is never too proud to invest her time in her 'patients' even after work or in her free time if the need arises. Despite the heavy workload and pressure/stress of her daily routine, she never lets the patients feel it and always takes as much time as the patient needs at that moment. She is extremely competent, incredibly popular with the children, and goes above and beyond the norm in her commitment... When she was on duty, the world was a little brighter for us. A storybook nurse!"
