Elise worked hard to stabilize this patient and struck up a great rapport with the patient’s family while supporting them.
Elise is a remarkable team member in the CCU. While she has been a nurse for just 2 short years, she has the knowledge and critical thinking skills of a seasoned nurse. She has helped countless patients throughout this pandemic and has given each exceptional care, no matter her level of fatigue from this demanding field.
Recently we had a tough case, in which a young patient arrived at the hospital and was admitted to CCU in critical condition. She worked diligently to help this patient. She skipped lunch, bathroom breaks, and even sips of water. She put this family first.
Elise worked diligently to assure the patient had all essential IV medications. It was extremely sad that despite everyone's actions to help this patient, they passed away.
It’s never easy telling a family, especially when the patient is so young. Elise was able to care for the grieving family. The patient’s father thanked her countless times for her tireless efforts and exceptional care. She really gave the family peace of mind that everything was done for the patient. She is a phenomenal nurse, and I take comfort in knowing that she cares for my patients.

In March we lost a 29-year-old patient, Elise’s patient. It was one of the most difficult days we have had in a while. It was difficult from the onset. The patient was extremely ill and was completely unstable and no matter what was done for her it just wasn't enough. Elise worked hard to stabilize this patient and struck up a great rapport with the patient’s family while supporting them.
I really don't think that the family of this patient would have managed this day without her. She provided care to the patient and the family. Elise is a newer CCU nurse, having been with us for around a year. She frequently cares for some of our sicker patients, probably because she never gives up on them (oh, and the fact that she is a fabulous nurse).

Elise is always an amazing and caring nurse. In one instance she went above and beyond for a patient and the patient's family. There was a patient nearing the end of their life and she knew that all members of the patient's family needed to be present to discuss care and make choices. She arranged a family meeting for this patient and their family.
During the meeting, Elise assisted this family, who had challenging dynamics, to make the right choice to ensure the best outcomes for the patient and the family. She advocated for the well-being of the patient and ensured that every member of the family was comfortable with the care plan and choices going forwards. This was a task that she excelled at and would have been difficult to complete for anyone else. We should all be looking up to nurses like her.
