LCDR Ngameni has been a nurse practitioner for the past 12 years and has served as a supervisory APP in IHSC for the past three years. She continuously works on creating health equity through her job and community engagement. 
LCDR Ngameni is cited for her continuous outstanding leadership in carrying out the mission of the Corps. As a nurse Leader and supervisory Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), She has created an environment that fosters fortitude, empowerment, and collaboration. 

LCDR Ngameni has been a nurse practitioner for the past 12 years and has served as a supervisory APP in IHSC for the past three years. She worked collaboratively with other stakeholders and specialties for the successful implementation of the new program. She continuously works on creating health equity through her job and community engagement. 

LCDR Ngameni maintains dual role as supervisor and clinician providing direct supervision to 2 PHS officers, oversight to 8 contract APPs in addition to completing 800+ patient encounters for FY 2023.

LCDR Ngameni led and collaborated with the multidisciplinary team, providing education and training materials on covid-19 and influenza vaccines. This team approach resulted in 30+ educational townhalls for the non-citizens at IHSC Houston, allowing them to make informed decision, over 2205 noncitizens receiving Influenza vaccines during FY 2023, an increase of 50% compared to FY 2022.

LCDR Ngameni demonstrated advocacy by spearheading efforts, working in collaboration with local administration, IHSC PERSONNEL Unit (IPU) and the health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the Houston Facility gaining recertification as Health Workforce Shortage Areas (HPSA)in Primary care. This resulted in one APP obtaining a $50,000 award from the National Health Service Loan Repayment Corps (NHSC) with a two years’ service commitment. 

LCDR Ngameni led APP efforts and collaborated with the IHSC Infectious Disease Program for the implementation of the IHSC Sexual Transmitted Infection (STI) Opt-Out Testing (OOT) program at the HCDF, HCDF medical staff to ensure 1500+ non-citizens were counseled regarding the importance of STI screening, early detection, and treatment; 850+  were tested; 60+ asymptomatic detainees were identified as having a STI; The detainees were treated thus preventing further transmission of STIs, sustaining life and reproductive health.

LCDR Ngameni continues to serve as mentor to newly commissioned corps officers and non-federal staff and has helped with orientation, career growth, policy and awards resulting in four officers under her leadership/mentorship getting promoted. 

LCDR Ngameni has implemented weekly policy reviews and policy nuggets to increase medical staff knowledge. She continuously presents during the IHSC APP leadership meeting, sharing rare and interesting cases encountered in clinic settings, therefore giving firsthand and evidence-based knowledge on clinical diagnosis and treatment of those conditions.
