I am orienting Elise Tordos from float pool and it has been such a pleasure! Basically I am writing to rave about not only her performance but mostly her positive attitude and caring nature with patients and families. Above and beyond. Yesterday while discharging one of our patients she noticed a father in line at the pharmacy with his child. She did not know them but overheard the father speaking about being evicted from their house over the phone and noticed his tears and that he was visibly distraught. She came all the way back up to the PICU to get a toy for the child and went all the way back down to deliver it and sit with the child so his father could finish the difficult conversation away from his son. I think this displays everything we stand for and I am so proud to not only teach but work side by side with someone like Elise. I just thought this deserved recognition
Elise provided care for not only a patient in the hospital that was not her patient but also the patient's father. Truly modeling the holistic approach to nursing. That we care not only care for our patients, but their families too, and that every child and parent that enters this hospital deserves thoughtful attention and care. Her empathy and compassion during this difficult situation display exceptional treatment of both our patients and families.
