Elisha was my starting nurse, and from the beginning, she was so sweet.
39 weeks pregnant, I came in thinking my water broke, but when I got checked, it didn’t. However, my blood pressure was elevated, so they opted to do an induction since I was 39 weeks. Elisha was my starting nurse, and from the beginning, she was so sweet. We moved to a laboring room, and it was time for my IV. She had another nurse trying to put the IV in, and she couldn’t get it, so Elisha asked if I wanted a popsicle to make it better, and from there on, that was our thing.
I had to get my blood drawn a couple of extra times, and every time she asked if I wanted a popsicle. Her shift ended at 7, so she was leaving for the night, and I was so sad, but I was hoping to see her again! Well, I did, but this time under different circumstances. 1 day after being discharged, I was back in L&D for preeclampsia. She was the only nurse who made me feel comfortable, and she was so personal. I was so scared, and even when she wasn’t my nurse, she still came to check in on me.
After being in for 3 days, she came in and said, “You’re still here.” I said, "Yes, unfortunately." She asked if I wanted a popsicle, and of course, I couldn’t turn that down! Fast forward to the day of discharge, she came in and checked on me. My pulse was high, and after other doctors and nurses came in, with her being in the room, it helped my pulse lower because of how nice our personal conversations were. I will forever remember the type of care Elisha gave me. I was so scared, and she helped calm me down and made me feel so much better. I think about her all the time and pray she knows how important she is to me!
