A patient arrived in preop reporting signs/symptoms of a DVT - recent motorcycle accident, on birth control, and not moving around a lot after this recent accident. Elissa advocated for the patient and called 2 doctors to make them aware. Elissa got a doppler ultrasound ordered for the patient in preop. The doppler came back positive for a DVT. Had Elissa not advocated for the patient, the patient wouldn't have discovered this. Great nursing! Follow your gut when you have a feeling!
