Elissa was kind and empathetic towards our mom/grandmother and you can tell she genuinely cares for her patients just by how she carries herself.
Our mother/grandmother was a patient at Gottlieb and when she declined and coded multiple times she was sent to the ICU where we eventually decided to let her go peacefully. Elissa took care of her on the day we stopped all life support. She provided the utmost compassionate care and made it look like a breeze. As a nurse at another Trinity Health hospital, I know how great our nurses as a whole are, but Elissa stood out with excellence. Our family is very close-knit and Grandmother was the pillar and foundation of the family. Given that we can be very emotional and I'm sure overwhelming at times, not only did Elissa have compassion with every family member that was present, but she also did everything to accommodate our grief.
I don't know if Grandmother was her only patient that day but I do know that the mark of a great nurse in situations like this is the ability to make the family and patient feel as though they are your only patient even if you do have others. Elissa was kind and empathetic towards our mom/grandmother and you can tell she genuinely cares for her patients just by how she carries herself. I cannot thank her enough for the kindness, compassion, and patience she had with us that day. She helped make the worst situation the best that it possibly could be. Thank you, Elissa, for everything
