In the five minutes that she meets her patients, they have absolute trust in her that they are in the best hands possible.
Eli is a member of the open-heart team and can make any patient, in any situation feel comfortable. The patients that she goes to pick up come back to the operating room at ease, in what can only be described as the most dire of situations for the patients. In the five minutes that she meets her patients, they have absolute trust in her that they are in the best hands possible. Recently, during open-heart surgery, one of Eli's tasks was to call the patient's wife throughout the case with updates. When the case started to not go well, she called the wife with update after update, providing her with the best possible information on what was not a good situation. She stayed calm and collected, keeping the wife from going into full panic mode. She did what she thought was best for the patient and his family and kept them up to speed the whole way. After the patient went to the ICU Eli would not go back to the OR until she confirmed with the physician that he was going to call the wife and gave him her phone number and information. Eli has only been a nurse for a little over two years and took on this extreme task. It was simply amazing to see.
