Elizabeth went above and beyond to assist one of her patients during a recent shift together. She cared so deeply and freely for this patient that others would often overlook, and it was so admirable of her. This patient was recently diagnosed with cancer and did not have any money from undergoing treatment. He was unable to manage his diabetes and did not have any money to be able to put toward his medications. Elizabeth took the extra time to show this man an affordable way to receive his medications and spoke with the doctor to have these medications sent directly to his home for him. This was a Spanish-speaking patient, which can also be another challenge when receiving healthcare. I know this made the patient feel seen, heard, and taken care of. It takes a good nurse to do her job, but it takes an Amazing nurse to stop and take the time to really make a difference.
