During morning rounds, Elizabeth recognized signs of labored breathing in the newborn and took the family's concerns seriously. She arranged for further monitoring and evaluation, which led to the diagnosis of Transient Tachypnea of the newborn and transfer to the NICU for appropriate testing and observation.

Her attentiveness and advocacy helped ensure the infant received timely care.

Beyond her clinical assessment, Elizabeth provided ongoing emotional support to the patient during a stressful and difficult day. She frequently checked on the patient’s physical and emotional well-being and went out of her way to support the entire family. When the patient's toddler visited, Elizabeth engaged with him at his level, provided snacks, and helped him feel included despite being unable to meet his new baby brother.

The nominator also noted that Elizabeth checked on the family again on the day of discharge and described her kindness, compassion, and dedication as making a very challenging experience easier to navigate.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
