A terminal patient and his fiancé were requesting the assistance of finding an officiant to marry them that day. They did not have their own officiant set up so we were determined as a unit to make this happen for the patient and his family. After making several phone calls and attempts in finding an officiant at such short notice, I remembered that Liz, one of our very own RN's was ordained, and could possibly help us out.I reached out to Liz and asked her if she could help us out, and without hesitation she said yes. On her day off, before taking her daughter on a field trip, she came into Passavant and performed a marriage ceremony for our patient and his family. Her selfless act of kindness and compassion is the reason Liz is such a wonderful role model and deserving of the DAISY Award!
