Once Elizabeth asked for the suction apparatus, another neighbor surprisingly thought to grab a turkey baster and quickly gave it to Frank. Frank suctioned the baby with the turkey baster, and the baby began crying instantly.
While Frank and Elizabeth Dante enjoyed a relaxing night off at home with their family, they suddenly heard a loud knock at the door. When Frank opened the door their neighbor from three houses down frantically cried, "I need your help! My baby is choking! Please, help my baby!" Without hesitation, both Frank and Elizabeth went to their neighbor's home and put their nursing skills to work.
When Elizabeth held the two-month-old infant, she immediately realized the newborn needed to be suctioned. She urged the mother to get the apparatus needed to suction the infant to open her airway. Unfortunately, the mother did not have anything. By this time, more neighbors on the block came to see what was happening. Once Elizabeth asked for the suction apparatus, another neighbor surprisingly thought to grab a turkey baster and quickly gave it to Frank. Frank suctioned the baby with the turkey baster, and the baby began crying instantly.
This family had such great faith in Frank and Elizabeth Dante. They used their exceptional nursing skills and came to the choking baby's aid. They thought creatively to save the life of an infant and showed great compassion while working collaboratively.
