I would like to nominate Elizabeth for the DAISY Award, in recognition of her exceptional patience, compassion, and professionalism in the care of a particularly vulnerable patient. Elizabeth demonstrated extraordinary skill and empathy while caring for a patient with both dementia and PTSD. During one particularly challenging moment, the patient became tearful and agitated, raising her voice and exhibiting signs of distress. Rather than becoming overwhelmed or reactive, Elizabeth remained calm and centered. She gently approached the patient, offering reassurance with a steady, kind voice and comforting presence. Elizabeth's ability to de-escalate the situation was not only impressive, it was deeply human. She prioritized the patient's emotional safety, validated her fears, and maintained a therapeutic, respectful connection throughout. Her commitment to trauma-informed care and her natural instinct for empathy created a safe space in a moment of crisis. This was not a one-time act of kindness; it is a reflection of the standard Elizabeth brings to her care every day. Her calm demeanor, attentive listening, and consistent advocacy for her patients, especially those with complex mental and emotional needs, make her an invaluable member of our team.
