My daughter was recently diagnosed with leukemia and has to come in often for treatments and labs. She has a medi port but hates having it accessed. It sometimes takes three people to hold her down. Then came Beth. Beth is calm and patient and playful with her. She actually calms my daughter down, plays dolls with her, and tells her what she's going to do. Beth can access her port with no tears or fighting or crying. We ask for her personally and if she is there she comes to be my daughter's nurse and she just lights up when she sees her. My daughter hates coming to the hospital but when I say we are going to see Beth she says ok and is happy. Beth is very compassionate and more than her nurse she's her friend and for a frightened 5-year-old, that goes a long way.
