Bio Dr. Elizabeth Fildes is a sociopreneur at heart, always looking for solutions to challenges in the health care system. She is the current Chair of the Holistically Healthy Nevada Nurses Initiative of the Nevada Nurses Association. She founded the Nevada Tobacco Users? Helpline in 1997 and has procured over $7,000,000 in federal and state funding for this project. In addition to the Nevada Tobacco Users? Helpline, Dr Fildes coordinated the creation of the Wellness Integrated Recovery, Nevada Tobacco Prevention and Education Adolescent Line, Brief Intervention for Tobacco Use Training and the Nicotine Addiction Treatment Program at the University of Nevada School Of Medicine. Dr. Fildes? translational research activities focus on nicotine addiction treatment and substance abuse prevention. Her long term goal is to increase access to holistic prevention and treatment services in rural and underserved communities via distance technology. She has made scholarly presentations on nicotine addiction in local, regional, national and international meetings. Nomination Information Dr. Fildes not only motivated me, but helped me explore a whole new area in nursing - health care policy. Since her class, I am still involved in our local coalition and by her encouragement, support and obvious commitment to her passion, she showed me by example how to follow suit. I thank her so much.
