Elizabeth Hiponia, BSN, RN

Among a lot of things that Elizabeth Hiponia does in the Pediatric Treatment Unit (PTU), she has developed an orientation checklist to standardize practice, ensuring that patients are looked after equally regardless of which nurse is allocated in PTU and this has eliminated delays. Patients have expressed satisfaction and increased confidence in PTU staff. One mother with a few children who receive enzyme therapy has expressed that her children have less anxiety during their visits because they know exactly what to expect. Elizabeth is also very organized, often she will have toys to occupy patients whilst they are waiting for their treatment, and she indeed goes above and beyond for this population of patients.
