Elizabeth Infinger was nominated by a fellow nurse whose connection to her began years before they ever worked together.

During a difficult hospitalization involving a family member, Infinger made a lasting impression through a simple but meaningful act of kindness. At the end of one shift, she asked if there was anything else she could do before leaving. The patient had one request: “Will you pray with me?” Without hesitation, Infinger gathered with the patient and family at the bedside and offered a heartfelt prayer, providing comfort, hope, and spiritual support during a vulnerable moment.

The experience left a lasting impact on one family member, inspiring her to pursue a career in nursing. Years later, she began her first nursing role on 5 West and discovered that her preceptor was the very nurse who had cared for her loved one years before. Although Infinger may not have remembered the encounter, her future colleague never forgot it.

“I remember the compassion. I remember the calming presence. I remember how Elizabeth made my family feel seen, cared for, and valued,” the nomination read. “Long before we ever worked together, she had already become my role model.”

Today, Infinger continues to exemplify the very best of nursing through her exceptional clinical knowledge, confidence, and leadership. According to the nomination, she advocates tirelessly for her patients, communicates with compassion, and remains a steady presence during even the most challenging moments.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
