Kelly Godwin has been a nurse on our MAT unit for nearly 5 years. During that time, she has been an exceptional nurse and mentor to other MAT nurses. A little over a year ago Kelly took over as the department's senior nurse supervisor. She has displayed grace, humor, tenacity, and a strong drive to assist the people we serve in any way possible. She has worked long hours, sometimes not having a day off for weeks on end. She has canceled pre-paid vacations to make sure we have sufficient coverage to take care of our clients. She has many strong points, but one of her best is her care for our clients. She is a fierce patient advocate and constantly looks for ways to accommodate the needs of the people we serve. She is a role model to us all when she deals with challenging clients and opportunities, and she actively looks for ways to say "Yes" in everything she does. She really cares about her "people".
Throughout this time, Kelly has continually expressed a strong desire to complete her RN program. Kelly had planned to take the test this fall after taking a breather from work and focusing on test preparation. Sadly, life got in the way, and once again, Kelly was forced to work when she planned to study. Not feeling particularly good about her prospects Kelly took the test after an exhausting couple of weeks at work. We all had our fingers crossed for her, and we just learned that Kelly is now a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
Kelly is an inspiration to us all. She has great compassion for our clients, and it shows it everything that she does. She is a tireless example of Ownership, Excellence, and Service. The management and staff of Lakeview's MAT Programs appreciate everything she does on a daily basis.
