February 2025 Honoree
Elizabeth Kniola, RN, MSN
That Monday started out as any typical Monday but quickly changed with a doctor saying, "What are you doing here?" My mom was in the ICU, intubated and sedated, and I came to work because bills needed to be paid. I knew she was receiving the best care possible and if I was needed, I could run down and visit. After speaking with the doctor, it was determined that a family meeting was needed and that I needed to leave the floor as soon as possible. After informing my charge nurse, I went back to work until someone could relieve me. Little did I know there was no one available. My manager, Liz, came in on her day off to take over my team. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect Liz to do this, but she did because that is the kind and caring RN and manager she is. Liz definitely leads by example, and I am also so thankful to have her as my manager. Thank you so much for caring for my patients so I could spend my mother's last few hours with her and my family.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
