Elizabeth Lewis DAISY nomination:

Elizabeth has 3 nominations:

Nomination from a visitor: I have been visiting a member of my church here frequently over the past 3 days, and every time Elizabeth enters the room – multiple times in each hour she has a smile. She has repeatedly spent time explaining things to the family and has never lost her patience. She has been extremely caring and compassionate and in the time I’ve been here. I have also witnessed her helping other members of the nursing staff and always with a positive attitude. You can tell that she loves her job and really has a passion for helping people. Every job has its ups and downs but I never heard a negative comment from her on any of the occasions that I was around her. She is a very hard worker and she cares about her patients. Reading about the DAISY award while on your unit made me immediately think of her as a wonderful nominee. Your hospital and department are blessed to have her as a member of your team and my church family members have been blessed to have her care for our loved one in his time of need. I wish that all patients and families were so lucky as to have her care for their loved ones with such love and compassion.

Nomination from a patient family member: When my husband came into the hospital and to your unit it was around time change and even though it was time for her to go Elizabeth stayed to help a less experienced nurse to care for my husband properly. She called the house doctor and gave him medicine to help his heart and she didn’t have to stay to do any of that. She then cared for him for the next 2 days and was wonderful to him and me and took time to explain everything that was going on with him and his testing and what the Doctors were saying. She is a treasure and I feel she deserves some recognition as a GREAT Nurse!!! Thank you to her for being so good to us.

Nomination from a patient family member: My son was in the hospital on your floor for several days I lost count of exactly how many but the days that she and her student nurse took care of him were some of the best especially the first day they had him. Even though the doctors were fighting about his care she talked to them until the lung doctor agreed to come back and see him again and that’s what he really needed. Elizabeth always took time to talk to me and explain the new stuff. She was really sweet and a super nurse. Thank you for all you did for us.
