She spoke to him with respect, brought laughs and smiles to his face, and advocated for him through those nights.
There was a patient at end stages of his ALS who was only in his 40s. He was at the end of his diagnosis and unable to do anything else for himself. Libby was assigned to him multiple nights in a row and took the utmost care of him. She spoke to him with respect, brought laughs and smiles to his face, and advocated for him through those nights. She gave him a haircut and pushed across the skybridge for some fresh air. The smile on his face when he came back from the sky bridge ride was like nothing I had ever seen before. She even bought him his favorite food he was craving from Waffle House. The joy she brought him from countless interventions was truly inspiring to the person who nominates her a fellow nurse. The patient's ALS progressed, and he was placed in hospice. Libby made his last days in the hospital and on this earth as memorable as possible and helped him feel like more of a person.
