I am writing to commend Liz Desa-Mendes, a Rapid Response/ICU nurse, for the exceptional care she provided to my mother during her recent hospitalization. My mother, who was a post-operative neurosurgery patient, experienced an acute episode of confusion and a hypertensive crisis. A rapid response and code stroke were called, and while several residents and a PA were present, it was Liz who truly took charge of the situation.

Liz immediately recognized the urgency of addressing my mother’s hypertension due to her surgical history. She remained calm, cool, and collected throughout the ordeal, ensuring my mother received the care she needed. Liz quickly secured better IV access and stayed by my mother’s side from the initial rapid response through the CT scan and all the way to her admission to the surgical ICU, a process that took approximately two hours.

Her exemplary care, professionalism, and dedication went above and beyond, demonstrating what a true healthcare hero looks like. I am deeply grateful for her expertise and compassion during such a critical time for my mother and our family.
