I will never forget the compassion and care Elizabeth demonstrated during a long labor. She had just started a Friday evening shift right before I was induced. Right away, we were at ease with her warmth and knowledge as first-time parents. Fast forward 12 hours, and I was so thrilled to learn that she would be my nurse that evening as well. When she arrived, labor was getting increasingly more painful, but Elizabeth constantly checked on me and helped me get comfortable. My doctor was unavailable much of the time and Elizabeth tracked her down when she was needed.
When it came time to deliver, Elizabeth never left my side. She was our cheerleader and after our son was born, he was whisked away to the NICU with breathing difficulties. She held space for my emotions and worked so hard to get me ready to go see my son. She literally ran to the cafeteria to get me a special meal. She helped me put on my clothes and wheeled me up to the NICU. She helped me nurse my son for the first time. It was the middle of the night and she was with me in the NICU charting - giving me space to bond with my son, but right there when and if I needed her.
Elizabeth was the shining light throughout a traumatic labor and delivery. Her kindness will never be forgotten by my husband and me. I could not have wished for a better labor and delivery nurse.
