There was a patient who was seen in the ED. This patient was discharged from the ED but is homeless. It was late evening/night, and all the shelters were filled. The patient was going to sleep in the ED waiting room. Our RN, Lizzy Martin, called the local Holiday Inn and paid for a hotel room for her. Dr. Chan found out this was happening and paid Lizzy for half the price of the room. Lizzy then carried the patient's items (the patient had 4 suitcases) to the Holiday Inn for the patient. Lizzy gave the patient information for local shelters for the next morning. Security came out and had Lizzy in sight to ensure her safety. The Security officer, J, also gave the patient cash for a taxi for the morning.
