My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed recently. Elizabeth took care of C during her surgery and then provided fantastic discharge care. She went over all of the instructions carefully and made sure that we understood what to expect and what to do if the unexpected occurs. She was calm and caring and really put me at ease. I am a nurse and often times others in health care assume that I don't need as much assistance with my children's care - Elizabeth did not make this assumption and really put me at ease with the care I needed to provide to my daughter at home. What really stood out to me and what made Elizabeth's care extra exceptional was the follow up on day two. Elizabeth called me the next day to check on C. She asked about her pain and how she was eating. I shared with Elizabeth that C was feeling really great and actually wanted to return to school earlier than expected. Elizabeth offered to fax a note to the school to allow C to return to school one day earlier. Unfortunately, the fax number for the school wasn't working. We spoke at 11:30 am and Elizabeth left the office at 12 that day. We didn't realize that the fax number was wrong until she had left the office for the day. Elizabeth called me very early the next morning - earlier than her shift - and had already re-submitted the fax to a different number to allow C to attend school and not miss her math test. She went out of her way to accommodate our family and help C return to school. She not only provided excellent nursing care but went above and beyond to do all of the behind-the-scenes actions that made the difference in C's recovery and return to normal. I am so grateful for Elizabeth's care and attention to detail. She is a true example of outstanding nursing care at CGH. Thank you, Elizabeth!
