She was the one who performed CPR and played a crucial role in saving my life.
I was admitted to St. Mark's due to low phosphorus levels, expecting a short-term stay. During my time there, Ellie, my daytime nurse, consistently provided attentive and compassionate care. She greeted me with a cheerful attitude and a sweet smile every day, which made a significant difference in my recovery process. While admitted, I experienced a couple of episodes of chest pain. Each time, Ellie responded quickly and appropriately, ensuring I received the necessary care. Her attentiveness and professionalism were truly appreciated. At 5:30, I went into cardiac arrest. Ellie was the first on the scene and immediately began performing chest compressions. My memories of that critical moment are blurred, but I distinctly remember recognizing her comforting presence as my vision cleared. Her calm demeanor and clear communication helped me regain composure as she explained what had occurred. After a few days in the ICU, I returned to the unit and was fortunate to have Ellie as my nurse once again. It was then that I learned she was the one who performed CPR and played a crucial role in saving my life. Over my last two days at the hospital, we shared laughter and tears as we reflected on my stay. When it was time for my discharge, Ellie made sure I could say goodbye and gave me a heartfelt hug. Her dedication and care ensured I could return home to my husband and children. I am incredibly grateful for her life-saving actions and compassionate support.

I would like to extend incredible kudos to our amazing nurse, Ellie. The patient currently in room 5N11 was a patient of ours just last week. During that stay, she went into cardiac arrest, and a code was called. She returned to our floor today and shared her gratitude for Ellie, and her words moved me to tears: "Ellie saved my life the day my heart stopped. I get emotional talking about it because I strongly believe that if she weren't there that day, I wouldn't be here for my kids. When I regained consciousness, I saw Ellie's face, and I knew I was going to be okay, despite how scared I was. She stayed with me, told me I was going to be okay, and gave me CPR too. Ellie is an angel, truly. I want her to know how much it means to me that she kept me here for my kids."

Ellie is an exceptional nurse, professional, compassionate, and a true team player. Her quick action, calm presence, and dedication quite literally saved this patient's life. Because of Ellie, a mother will get to watch her two children grow up. Ellie deserves the DAISY Award and so much more for the incredible care and heroism she displayed that day.
