February 2025 Honoree
Elizabeth Root, RN
I have a story to tell that I feel will encompass all the petals. My wife was diagnosed with pneumonia and the flu and had to be hospitalized. To shorten the front, I had been too close to her and had to be admitted also. I had just had a birthday, the weekend was approaching, and so were the NFL playoffs. My wife and I are football freaks and really wanted to see the games. I had mentioned these facts to Elizabeth, including that we had been married for 44 years. Taking all of this into consideration, Elizabeth and the proper authority decided that I could join my wife in her room to have dinner and watch the evening game. My wife and I had the most wonderful evening we have had, even though we were recovering, but we had dinner together and got to watch a playoff game. I can easily verify Nurse Elizabeth's passion for nursing, empathy for her patients, trust for her patients, admirable attributes, selflessness, and love for her patients and the nursing profession. I have met in the past some of the most wonderful nurses during my time as a patient and employment in law enforcement, but I don't think there will be another like Elizabeth. Thank you!
Thank you, Elizabeth, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
