Elizabeth Salupen, BSN, RN

Elizabeth Salupen is a nurse that has devoted the vast majority of her time serving others. Elizabeth has rightfully earned the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award for her 35 years of service as a nurse in NYP Westchester Hospital. Elizabeth has grown with the institution and has seen so many changes throughout her career. Each challenge she has faced head-on. She has always thrived in order to provide the best care possible for her patients. Her passion has always been the nursery. She knew the ins and outs of the nursery, and became a resource person for any question or care about babies. She even was frequently floated to the NICU because of her expertise when it came to baby care. When faced with the drastic transition to couplet care, after decades of working only with babies, Elizabeth was willing to learn what was needed. She soon became oriented to postpartum and was able to provide care for the couplet.

As a colleague of Elizabeth, I saw firsthand how thorough she was with her care. Elizabeth never overlooked any care and never wanted to delegate any of her work, even when the help was offered. Even when Covid came, when she could have easily opted to retire, Elizabeth stayed serving patients in many different ways. Elizabeth was always willing to learn, adapt, and pivot with the many challenges presented to her. For her commitment to her work, devotion, and perseverance Elizabeth Salupen is well deserving of this DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.
