Ellie is an intelligent, kind, and highly empathetic nurse. There was a patient recently near end-of-life that Ellie was caring for and she spent her entire shift giving this patient and family exceptional care. She was highly attentive to the patient’s needs as well as the family’s. Ellie was able to facilitate all communication between the team and the patient’s family. The family was not fond of the providers, but Ellie bridged that gap, so the patient and family were able to have a peaceful passing. She stayed 4-5 hours past her shift to provide continuity of care because of her dedication to this patient and family. Because Ellie was their nurse, this family was able to experience peace and comfort during a very dark time. Ellie continuously goes above and beyond for every patient she has and is the perfect example of an extraordinary nurse.
