Recently, we, unfortunately, had a patient expire. It was an emergent dissection. The case was long and difficult starting at midnight until 11 am when the patient expired. The family was devastated. I wanted to express the professionalism and dedication that was demonstrated by Lizy. It was above and beyond like I've never seen. She spent hours preparing the body so he was presentable for the family, consoling and sitting with them. The mom of the deceased had physical limitations and needed to use the restroom. Lizy took her and assisted her on and off the toilet multiple times. She stayed past her shift to make sure all the paperwork was completed correctly by the surgeon and family so the deceased was ready to be released. Lizy shows this kind of professionalism all the time. She is a team player, kind and sensitive to others. She is an amazing nurse and can scrub like no other. She is highly respected by all who know her. I'm so grateful to have her on our team.
