I work in healthcare myself as a physician and unfortunately received news from a local fetal cardiologist that our baby had a rare heart disease that was very likely fatal, but they weren't sure about it and could not see us in follow-up for over a month afterward. I reached out to CHOP for a second opinion and was put in touch with Liz and she has been immensely helpful ever since. We ran into multiple hurdles with getting images transferred to CHOP and with getting insurance approval, and Liz never forgot about us. She checked in with both me and my medical team at my home institution regularly to make sure that we could expedite getting a second opinion at CHOP. We have since been seen multiple times and feel very confident in the care we are receiving there and fortunately, it seems the prognosis is much better than initially stated. Liz has been an advocate and a listening ear for us during these overwhelming and scary times and I am very thankful she was assigned as our nurse navigator. She is a true example of what a compassionate nurse is and CHOP is lucky to have her.
