Today I witnessed an extraordinary act of kindness by my coworker- Liz, who has 7-month-old twin girls of her own. Liz made a connection with a patient who was 27 weeks pregnant with twin girls. I just happened to stop by the patient's room and saw the patient going through a box of clothes while Liz was talking with her. The patient had the look of pure joy and appreciation on her face. It brought tears to my eyes, so I just slipped out of the room unnoticed. I knew Liz was the perfect person to receive The DAISY Award. Liz made the connection with the patient, made the patient feel special, and then brought her clothes and other items for her babies. This was truly above and beyond. This isn't the first time Liz has done an extraordinary act. A few months back when the unit was extremely busy, Liz bought pizza, salad, and pop for everyone. She not only cares for her patients exceptionally, she also cares for us, her coworkers.
