I was on the other side of the fence when my father was admitted to my own unit. Beth was my dad's nurse the day we withdrew from care. Needless to say, it was the most difficult time in my family's life. Beth not only cared for my father, she cared for all of us. She provided his care while simultaneously allowing us uninterrupted time with him. Beth took that worry away from me, put my anxiety at ease and allowed me to be the daughter and not the daughter who is also a nurse. Because of Beth, I was able to focus all of my attention on my dad. I remember sitting there with him, my family and friends, thinking that an angel had been sent to us. I have always observed Beth give to her patients and their families throughout the years, but to be a recipient of that care, compassion, and knowledge was a blessing.
