I nominate Ella Harris for a DAISY Award. I have received 5 letters and/or phone calls from patients and their families this year alone lauding the exemplary customer service that Ms. Harris provides. To attempt to describe her accomplishments would be insufficient so I have provided a list of the patient’s comments in their own words. These compliments have commended Ms. Harris using descriptors as:
“wonderful interaction,” “extremely friendly and helpful,” “She took the time,” “comforted my wife,” “wonderful and caring,” “most pleasant caregivers I have experienced,” “human element that she provided for me,” “went above and beyond in helping my father,” “took extra time and steps in making sure that her father was comfortable,” and “nursing practice that exemplifies the high caliber of nurses that VCHUS strives to provide.”
While the sheer number of letters and/or phone calls that I have received about Ms. Harris may seem voluminous, I would like to put it into perspective. I consider myself lucky to manage a wonderful group of nurses. Each and every one of my employees could easily be nominated for this award. Ms. Harris has received more letters of commendation from patients and their families than the rest of the department combined.
I offer this recognition of her caring and compassionate care provided in hopes that she will be recognized for her values, compassion and healing touch that she provides every day. She is truly a nurse that answered her calling.
