nurse Ellen must have noticed how I felt, and she kept giving me the best words of encouragement, and while I was in a burst of tears, she held my hand.
Last year, I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy. I've had three prior miscarriages and was considered high-risk, so I was extremely nervous. My labor was very long, and during my time there, I interacted with various nurses/doctors during different shifts. To be honest, they were all great, but one nurse stood out to me the most... nurse Ellen Bryant. She was with me towards the end when I needed an emergency C-section. My husband unfortunately felt lightheaded from nerves, so I was alone in the room and immediately felt anxiety take over me.
To make matters worse, I had to be put to sleep, and all I could think about was what if I didn't wake up. While everyone was busy preparing everything, nurse Ellen must have noticed how I felt, and she kept giving me the best words of encouragement, and while I was in a burst of tears, she held my hand. I can't tell you what that one gesture did, but it gave me the confidence and the strength to move forward. Everything went great with no complications, and when I finally held/saw my baby for the first time, nurse Ellen was there again, and she helped me latch him. Again, I want to reiterate how great the staff was, but a special thanks to nurse Ellen for giving me the best birthing experience.
