Ellen has worked for St John for almost a year, she came to us with many years of experience working at other hospitals in our area, and has been an absolute dream to work with. She is an example of the type of person that every nurse should strive to be. She is knowledgeable, professional, compassionate, and truly a delight to work with. She treats patients and their loved ones with the utmost respect, empathy, and thoughtfulness. Even when she is dealing with extremely difficult personalities and situations, she does it with a smile which is not always easy to do, and many would struggle with. She maintains a positive outlook which helps alleviate some stress among her coworkers, and she is always there to lend a helping hand.

Ellen had an assignment with 2 very difficult patients with behavioral and emotional problems. One of the patients was difficult for a multitude of reasons, but their personality made caring for them even more trying. Ellen never budged on her compassionate approach and maintained a positive attitude even after a rough 12-hour shift. I can honestly say, I am not sure any other nurse would have been able to handle the night that Ellen had with such grace and professionalism. She is an Extraordinary Nurse and deserves to be recognized.
