My husband D had a kidney transplant forty years ago. His father was the live donor, and although he has passed away, his 100 year old kidney lives on. Because D is on immunosuppressants and still has his polycystic kidneys, he is prone to blood infections. D was admitted to the hospital for fever, lethargy, and for not responding to the antibiotics. With blood infections come complications. Ellie was the MGMC nurse on duty when D's heart went into atrial fibrillation. His heart rate was in the 190s, and his blood pressure was dropping fast. Ellie realized the urgency of the situation. She lined up all the professional staff and crash cart to stabilize the heart. Ellie informed the team (ten people in the room!) of D's history, meds, and status. She stayed composed, was key to the team's success, and kept us informed throughout. After D's heart stabilized, Ellie continued to take excellent care of D. She kept a close eye on his vitals and checked his comfort level frequently, offering professional nursing care and true compassion. Thank you, Ellie!! We are so fortunate to have had you as our nurse.

Thank you, Ellie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
