Ellie Schaible, BSN, RN
I would like to nominate Ellie Schiable for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care, compassion, professionalism, and dedication to our clinical research patients.
Recently, we enrolled a patient in a clinical trial that required administration of specialized injections, which differ significantly from our standard treatment protocols. Ellie not only volunteered to attend the training session early, but her peers also unanimously identified her as the ideal caregiver for these patients. Her colleagues consistently recognize her expertise, dedication, and commitment to providing outstanding patient care.
Our first patient was enrolled in this study nearly 18 months after the trial opened at JNE. Ellie immediately embraced the opportunity to care for this patient. Demonstrating remarkable dedication, she reviewed her schedule and adjusted her planned day off during the patient's first week of treatment to ensure she could personally administer therapy on the required treatment days. In addition, she took the initiative to train another nurse to serve as a secondary nurse for the study, ensuring continuity of care and building clinical trial expertise within the team.
Ellie consistently exemplifies professionalism, kindness, compassion, and humanity. She cares for patients facing some of the most challenging battles of their lives, and she does so with genuine empathy and unwavering support. She never seeks recognition for her efforts; instead, she is motivated by a sincere desire to provide the highest-quality care to every patient she encounters.
