Ellyn S Rueckheim, RN

Ellyn was my spouse’s nurse and was so wonderful during a short time in hospice. Actually, everyone in the hospice is amazing! One morning, my spouse’s oxygen level was at 58%. Ellyn and I knew that it would be soon. That morning, she found out that my spouse’s favorite song was “Lake Marie” by John Prime. I mentioned that out of all the John Prime albums I had been playing, not one of them had “Lake Marie.” She took out her smartphone and pulled up that song, and left us alone to listen to it together. It turned out to be one of the last things my spouse heard. My spouse left us a few hours later.

That small act of loving kindness meant so much.
