I met an outstanding nurse this week who I shall never forget. I had the good fortune to have her as my caregiver for several days. I had a pacemaker put in with the understanding it would require a one night stay over. However, there were complications. Elma Okogbo was right there with us explaining what was happening and clearing up the confusion we were in. She had a lot of knowledge, which she shared with us and kept us informed so when our doctors would come in we were confident with our questions.
She spoke highly of the doctors and their knowledge. She gave a lot of tips on how to make my life healthier and easier. Everything she said was said with plenty of encouragement. Elma never changed in her attitude. She was always exceptional, with her beautiful smile, happy, positive, and uplifting attitude. She is a hard worker taking care of what needed to be done. Elma would bring me ice, changed my sheets, and just make things more comfortable for me.
Elma always made me feel special and comfortable. I felt she was doing her calling, her passion, and was right where she wanted to be…. taking care of her patients! When she found out that I was going to be released she was so happy and excited for me. She wants all her patients well. It was such an honor meeting Elma, admiring her, trusting her honesty. In all the years I have been in hospitals, never have I met a nurse so dedicated. Elma has the heart of an angel.
