The woman was tearful as she talked of the encounter and wanted to express her appreciation for all that Eloisa did to make her feel cared for and comfortable.
A woman called the unit to give recognition to Eloisa Charles, RN for services rendered, not as a nurse at our facility, but as a visitor at another hospital. The nominator, who is retired and disabled, was dropped off by a shuttle service at the surgical waiting area of a neighboring hospital. She stated she could barely walk and was in great discomfort.
A short time later, Eloisa walked in, apparently there to visit a friend. She noticed this individual was in distress and kicked into action. She arranged for wheelchair transport to the ER area (which was quite a distance away), carried her belongings, and stayed by her side while she was checked in and triaged. She left only after making sure the woman was ok. The woman was tearful as she talked of the encounter and wanted to express her appreciation for all that Eloisa did to make her feel cared for and comfortable. She stated that Eloisa was a true angel sent from Heaven to help her and said, “She had a real Florence Nightingale way about her.” She went on to say that Eloisa was kind, caring, and professional and wanted her to be recognized at the highest level for her actions, and she will never forget this selfless act of service.
