She made me feel brave as she reminded me that I was doing great, and she showed so much empathy throughout the whole procedure.
Elsie was the friend I needed during what was for me a very scary experience. I recently had my baby girl via C-section, and as someone with pretty intense medical anxiety, this is not at all how I hoped for things to go. I found out that a C-section would be very likely and when I went in for a second opinion Elsie was one of the excellent nurses on the floor that day. She was encouraging and patient and kind all the way through. Ultimately, I scheduled an ECV and possible C-section for the following week. Baby girl had other plans and my water broke four days before my scheduled delivery. I can’t explain the relief I felt when they wheeled me into the OR that morning and there was Elsie smiling and waiting for me. I was so lucky she was working again that day. She immediately grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight while my spinal was administered. She made me feel brave as she reminded me that I was doing great, and she showed so much empathy throughout the whole procedure. Her care throughout the rest of the day was just as wonderful, but I will never forget the kindness she showed me in that operating room, especially while my husband couldn’t be in the room. I never felt alone, and that’s something that just can’t be taught.
