The ward was busy with patients still in the Operating Theatre and patients in pain. At the last minute, one of the night staff phoned in sick. Nurse Elsy just carried on and through effective delegation and prompt decision making continued to ensure safe nursing care was given to the patients with a smile on her face until the duty manager was able to get her an extra staff to help. There were no complaints but instead praise from patients and staff. Nurse Elsy definitely went the extra mile, to ensure the patients' needs were met and the staff continued to ensure safe care was provided. She did not once complain but instead found a solution. She is definitely a big asset to the profession.
