Elsy will personally take care of your patients in order for you to have your meal because she knows that a nurse can only function well on a full stomach.
Ma’am Elsy is the one who inspires me to become an effective ICU Nurse. For me, she is an ideal leader. She treats her staff equally no matter what our nationality is. She always sees to it that we are comfortable in our workplace and always asks her staff for our day/shift. She sees to it that no staff skip their meals, especially during busy times. She will personally take care of your patients in order for you to have your meal because she knows that a nurse can only function well on a full stomach.

In addition, if there are any complaints to the nurses from patients or from doctors, she always make sure to ask the staff about it; she listens to the staff’s concerns and she is our advocate. She manages the schedule well and she tries her best to accommodate all requests from the staffs. One good thing I like the most about her is she is very approachable; she will grant your requests and emergency leaves as long as there are staff available for duty. In return, when she needs us (staff) on days that we are understaffed, we can never complain because this is our way to show our gratefulness to her. She is a friend to everyone, she makes sure that her staff are treated equally.

She is also a model in ICU skills; when I was a newbie, she personally taught me how to handle ventilators and other equipment in ICU and encourage me that I will do best in time with practice and confidence. She appreciates in public, but she criticizes in private. In my almost two years in Mediclinic Main ICU, not once she called the attention of a staff in any of our wattsup group; if she want to discuss something to a staff, she discussed it with us personally, which is very respectful. Ask anyone in ICU, and you will only hear good things about her. She is like a mother to us all in the ICU, guiding her children in the correct way and disciplining us in a manner that we can acknowledge our mistakes and still be thankful for the lessons we learned.
