Elton will be celebrating his 12-year anniversary this month. I have been working on this unit for a year now and I can say with confidence that he represents TMC's values to a T. He displays great compassion when caring for patients and always honors their mind and spirit. He shows extreme dedication to his position as CNL by working smart and hard while always advocating for his nurses. This man exudes integrity! He always has the courage to stand up for the truth and what is right; even if he risks standing alone.
Elton's sense of community is stellar. He is always welcoming to new staff and patients. He goes above and beyond to practice kindness and never fails to reach out as a teacher/leader. All these values aside, he shows up for each shift and makes a meaningful difference every night! He usually starts by cleaning the entire unit; including computer stations, supply rooms, patient rooms, and the breakroom. He then goes to work putting out all the fires on the unit and makes sure that everyone has a functioning IV.
After that, Elton checks with his nurses to see how he can help their night go smoother and usually doesn't sit down for the rest of the shift. If I could pick one person to work with every day, it would definitely be him, and that sentiment is shared by more than half the unit. The days that he works instantly fill up when the schedule opens because everybody wants to work with a CNL that cares for his nurses as much as his patients.
In summary, Elton is an amazing nurse and he is irreplaceable as CNL! He is adored by all of his staff and it is time to acknowledge his many years of excellence!
