Over the last 30 years, I’ve had 95% of my care and procedures at UNM. In that time, I’ve met many nurses. Most of your staff, especially nurses, are the best. Every now and then, one rises to the top. You can recognize them because something about them is special. Patients are naturally attracted to her because if you’re hurting or need help, she’s the one you reach for or call out to. Of course, I am speaking of Elvia Erives, an exceptional RN. She’s the type of nurse that goes above and beyond. She does not lose her cool when the pressure is on, even being pulled from all sides. She makes time for everyone. Even with this stressful job our nurses have, she maintains her composure and truly cares for her patients. She’s the type of woman you would never expect a cruel word out of, but at the same time, I would not back her into a corner. She is a truly virtuous woman deserving of recognition. She gets my Nomination for The DAISY Award!
