I was a patient on unit 3North while Elyse was the day nurse. From the moment she started her shift and introduced herself to me she exceeded the expectations I had for her. She came in and showed compassion without doubting or questioning my feelings. She made sure she addressed all of the concerns I told her I had including needing some tests done that I was told were going to be ordered by prior nurses. She was diligent in her work habits and pleasant when interacting with me. She made sure I had all the things I needed throughout the day and even checked on me when I didn’t call for her. She showed a level of professionalism combined with sympathy, empathy, and compassion that was admirable and she put me in a state of peace while under her care. Throughout my whole ordeal and time here she came in and consoled and assured me that things would get better. She worked tirelessly to make sure I was happy and had a smile on my face. She is an asset to the unit, the hospital, and even the nursing field. HUMC should be so lucky to have her in their employ and should nurture her to the great heights I believe she can achieve.
