Elysia Mason gave me power and strength during the delivery of my daughter. I entered the delivery room with my husband having regular contractions. She calmly asked me "How would you like this to go today?" I responded that I would like to try without medication but if it was taking a long time, I'd like an epidural. She was very receptive to my wishes. She never made me feel less than and always supported whatever I was saying or could get out between contractions. Not only was she patient and kind with me but she could tell my husband wanted to help and she was good at making him useful as well. She gave him specific pressure points for my lower back. She moved around my bed to read monitors all while keeping calm. This was the most important thing to me. She was very good at knowing her responsibilities for keeping us safe but also her regard for me and my mental state. When the delivery progressed quickly and I thought I couldn't handle the pain anymore, Elysia looked me calmly in the eyes and gave me affirmation which eased the pain and made me feel like I had all the power and control over my body. I was afraid and scared, and her presence was truly like having a guardian angel. I'll forever be grateful for her. I had a successful natural birth and will always remember Elysia's kindness. She has truly found her calling and I wish every woman could experience the type of delivery I had. I owe it all to her. She had an amazing amount of confidence in me and I'll always be grateful for the strength she gave me in the most terrifying of my life. God bless nurses like Elysia.
