I was a patient after spine surgery. For much of that week, Elyssa was my nurse. She did all of the expected things in providing excellent care but went above and beyond. Elyssa advocated for me when I knew the medications prescribed by the hospitalist were incorrect. Because my case was complex, she made sure to carefully write everything out on the bathroom door and clearly communicate my care plan to everyone involved in my care. Elyssa also conferred with my doctors about keeping me another day to make sure I was stable enough to go home. Though she had a full load of patients, she made me feel that I was her only patient. Elyssa is an excellent patient advocate and a valuable asset to the Banner organization. I've had over 35 surgeries and many hospitalizations and she was probably the best nurse I've had. I hope Banner appreciates her as much as I do.
